Defra have held a series of briefings for the waste sector, in preparation for Brexit.

The events which took place across the country discussed what leaving the EU will mean for the waste management industry, covering off key considerations such as potential port disruption, waste storage capacity/facilities and planning for alternative export routes if required.
RDF for Waste To Energy plants is thought to be the largest waste stream affected.

Although DEFRA is confident that there will be no significant domestic legislative or administrative barriers preventing the normal movement of waste when leaving the EU, they have prepared essential BREXIT Guidance Notes providing an outline of the changes that waste companies should consider when making any contingency plans.
